St. John of the Cross, a Spanish priest, made the following statement… “In the evening of life, we will be judged on love alone.” What a thought-provoking declaration. Is there a better way to evaluate our lives than love? I don’t think so. It’s not about how much money we make or how big our house is or what we accomplish in our careers. It’s about the size of our heart and our ability to love deeply all those who cross our path each day. How big is your heart? If I were to judge you on love alone, how would you rate? How well do you love your partner, your kids, your parents, your siblings, your friends and yourself? How well do you love even those who are hardest to love? Are you good at both giving and receiving love? What blocks you from being more loving and how hard do you work to remove those blocks? I believe a “great day” is one in which we can say we have loved deeply and well. Will you choose to love that way today?
Evaluate your life on what matters most. There is no greater achievement in life than to love deeply and well.
