On September 11, 2001 the twin towers came down in New York City. Thousands of lives were lost. Minutes after the first tower was hit more than 3,000 phone calls were made from people inside the buildings. While some of the calls were pleas for help, most were to loved ones. In the final minutes, with death knocking at the door, people called their husband or wife, their mom and dad, their children and their best friends. What did they say? In phone call after phone call, the following three words: “I love you.” What does this tell us? When death comes close, everything else falls away and love becomes the only thing that matters. We connect with who we are. We connect with what we feel. We connect with what’s most significant in our lives. How connected are you to love right now? In your busy life, rushing here and there, doing this and that, do you still keep love at the forefront? Let the tragedy of 9/11 remind you of who you love most and what an incredible gift love is.
At the end of our lives many of us come to realize that what truly matters most in life is love. Don’t wait until the end of your life to realize this truth. Live your life in love today.
