What is the greatest cause of unhappiness? Spiritual teachers and researchers alike say that fear is the greatest enemy. Unhappiness and fear walk hand in hand. Fear causes paralysis, stops us in our tracks and steals our joy. Conquer your fears and a blissful life is yours. Most of us, however, avoid our fears. Fear, after all, is scary. When we do look, we don’t look for long. Our most deeply entrenched and damaging fears often start in childhood. Most are linked to survival (which is why we hang on to them for dear life!) and most are not rational. As children, for example, if we believe that our parents don’t love or approve of us in some significant way, we develop a fear that no one will. This fear, carried into adulthood, causes us to seek love or approval, sometimes at any cost. That’s not a happy life. Other big fears include the fear of failure, abandonment, rejection, death, not being enough and not having enough. What are your biggest fears? What do you worry about most when it comes to your relationships, your career, your finances and your health? Where in life do you feel most stuck? Make looking at, questioning and unraveling your fears a top priority. Have the courage to leave your fears behind. This is your ticket to a happy life.
Fear blocks happiness. Conquer your fears (especially the big ones!) and happiness is yours.
