Think about the difference between hanging on and letting go. Which do you think is easier to do? Logic tells me it should be far easier to let go. To hang on to anything requires effort. Experience, however, has taught me that letting go sometimes feels impossible. Why? In most cases, it’s because we fear what will happen if we do. Will our world fall apart? Will we be okay? Many of us hang on to things way longer than we should. We hang on to bad habits
. We hang on to limiting beliefs. We hang on to unhealthy relationships. We even hang on to stuff around our house that we don’t want or need. This is what I’ve learned about hanging on. It steals our peace, our serenity and a whole lot of our energy. In many ways it steals our life. When we let go, we are free. We are free to live life on our own terms and to make our lives what we want them to be. Make a list right now of all the things you’re hanging on to that don’t contribute positively to your life. Imagine letting each and every one of those things go. Don’t you feel more freedom and more lightness already? I know I do.
Lessons Learned:
- Get good at letting go, especially of those things that don’t serve you well, like unhealthy relationships, limiting beliefs and bad habits. Free yourself to make your life all that you want it to be.
