   About Liz

Liz Pearson is a Registered Dietitian, Award-Winning Professional Speaker and Bestselling Author. She has a passion for peanut butter sandwiches and an undying love for chocolate.

Liz's approach to healthy eating is sane and sensible. She communicates timely, relevant nutrition research, while emphasizing the need for fun food (like chocolate!) in moderation.

Liz runs The Pearson Institute of Nutrition. The mission of the Institute is to translate the often-confusing and ever-changing science of healthy eating into practical, commonsense advice that people can follow in their busy lives.

Liz is a Professional Speaker and has won numerous awards for her communication and presentation skills, including an International Speech Award, a Humourous Speech Award, as well as numerous awards for her ability to evaluate other speakers. She has been an active member of the Canadian Association of Professional Speakers, the International Federation for Professional Speakers and Toastmasters International for many years. Liz is devoted not just to her message, but to the craft of speaking and it shows.

Liz's first book, “When in Doubt, Eat Broccoli! (but leave some room for chocolate)” received outstanding reviews from consumers and health professionals alike. Liz's second book, “The Ultimate Healthy Eating Plan (that still leaves room for chocolate!)” was a National Bestseller and won a North American, Independent Publisher Book Award for best book in the health/nutrition category. Liz’s newest book, “Ultimate Foods for Ultimate Health (and don’t forget the chocolate!)” hit bookstore shelves last year, sold out immediately and was an instant National Bestseller. It just won the prestigious Gold Award from Cuisine Canada which recognizes excellence in food writing and food recipes.

Liz is well known and respected by the media and appears regularly on radio and television. She does a regular segment on CBC News World and has appeared on shows such as Canada AM, Breakfast Television, City TV, Health on the Line, More to Life, Daytime, CBC Radio and 680 News. She’s been featured in newspapers and magazines across Canada, including the Toronto Star, Globe and Mail, Ottawa Citizen, Edmonton Journal, Calgary Herald, Vancouver Sun, Montreal Gazette, Halifax Herald and Today’s Parent.

Liz was the “Ask the Expert” nutrition columnist for Chatelaine magazine for almost seven years - Canada’s leading magazine for women. She continues to contribute feature articles for magazines and newspapers across Canada.

Liz is a sought-after consultant and spokesperson for the food industry and has worked with companies such as Unilever, Nestlé, Campbell’s, Loblaws and Dare Foods. She represented the 5-to-10-a-day fruit and vegetable campaign, sponsored by The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and the Canadian Cancer Society, for many years.

Liz received her Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition from Ryerson University and completed her internship at the Toronto General Hospital.

Liz has two children and lives in Toronto. Her daughter Chelsea once told her classmates “the reason my lunch looks like this is because my mother is a dietitian”. Her daughter Shannon wonders why everything that is bad for you has to taste so good.
